WHAT IS CACFP?
Research indicates that children participating in the CACFP are served more nutritious meals than those not on the program. Your organization's involvement in the CACFP indicates to parents that you are dedicated to excellent meal service for their children and to providing a high standard of care in your school.
OVERVIEW OF CACFP
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a state and federally funded program that provides funding to licensed child care centers, adult daycare centers, and organizations that sponsor daycare homes to ensure participants receive nutritionally adequate meals and snacks
while in care. Funding is also available for meals and snacks at emergency shelters and afterschool programs.
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) plays a vital role in improving the quality of daycare for children and elderly adults by making care more affordable for many low-income families. Each day, 3.3 million children receive nutritious meals and snacks through this federally funded program. This program also provides meals and snacks to 120,000 adults who receive care in nonresidential adult daycare centers.
The CACFP reaches even further to provide meals to children residing in homeless shelters, and snacks and suppers to youths participating in eligible after school care programs. California's CACFP is administered by the California Department of Education (CDE).
We recognize that obtaining CACFP sponsorship can be a challenging process. TLC Staff offers knowledge of the nutrition standards and requirements that helps organizations apply to receive funding through CACFP sponsorship. Our staff is experienced in this process and will provide the support necessary to ensure successful approval.
Once approved, TLC offers a variety of services, including:

-
Monitoring monthly records to satisfy CACFP program requirements, including assistance with filing monthly reimbursement claims for you if needed
